The appraisal process includes an on-site inspection where photographs are taken and all characteristics of the item or items are noted. Research is done to identify and establish values for the item/s appropriate to the type of appraisal required. A written report is provided with details of all items, photographs, comparables and explanations of value for the client and intended users. Verbal Opinions of Value are also offered. While this is not an appraisal, the values expressed verbally, without extensive research, are based upon the appraiser's expertise and knowledge. VOV are useful if basic information is needed but a formal appraisal is not required. |

An estate sale's objective is the orderly liquidation of personal property in a short period of time for the highest proceeds possible. The circumstances of a liquidation can be overwhelming or ever traumatic for the seller, and our goal is to minimize your stress by offering efficient, professional and honest estate sale services. We are experts in managing estate sales, and will be attentive to your needs throughout the process.
The process begins with a complementary consultation in which we come and view the property in question. We will discuss any special needs you may have, and our fee to manage the sale. There are no out of pocket expenses for you. All expenses for staffing, supplies, advertising and credit card fees are covered. A percentage of the total sale is charged, and deducted from the final sale proceeds. Final payment to you is made within 5 working days. Once a contract is signed detailing our duties and expectations, we will begin work. We will manage all aspects of the sale: cleaning, organizing, staging/display, and pricing of all items. Do not discard anything prior to the sale; we will do this for you as necessary, and you would be surprised at the items people will purchase! However, we cannot sell prescription drugs or alcohol; these should be disposed of before our arrival. All items are priced based upon our training in appraisal theory and methodology with the International Society of Appraisers, and with advanced education in evaluating fine art, antiques and residential contents. With knowledge of current market comparables and years of experience as professional estate appraisers and liquidators you can be assured that items will be sold and the best prices realized. Should an outside expert be required for consultation during the research/pricing process (e.g. for gemstones, firearms, coins and stamps) we have a network of appraisers available for assistance, at no additional charge to you. Our staff has decades of experience in working estate sales. All materials and equipment needed for the sale will be provided. Photographs will be taken and emails sent to the established customers on our email list (1200+ people), as well as to the thousands of subscribers on EstateSales.net. We place advertisements in The New Mexican and/or local newspaper, as well as on Craigslist. Items may be brought in from other clients if we deem it advantageous to attract the largest number of buyers to your sale. Dates for the sale will be based set based upon your needs and the items to be sold. We will work with your realtor to market your home during the sale, if appropriate. All major credit cards are accepted, and we do not pass on fees to you, our customers. We do not pre-sell to dealers. Payment will be made to you/your representative within 5 business dates after completion of the sale. along with an accounting of items sold. All items valued at more than $45 will be detailed. In the event that high value items are left after the sale. we can arrange for the to go to auction or consignment. Charity pick-ups and a charitable donation receipt may be arranged after your sale and your home will be left tidy and swept clean. |
